Flight Training


We offer top notch Flight Instruction in the beautiful skies of West Virginia.

All flight training at Just Plane Adventures is conducted under the close supervision of our Chief Pilot, Mitch Pennington.

Mitch has been an active flight instructor for thirty two years, and has been involved with a wide range of aviation flight training. He has accumulated over 14,000 hours of flight time, including general aviation, corporate, military, airline and air cargo flying. In addition, his background as an aircraft mechanic with an inspection authorization helps him instill a deeper understanding of how the airplane works with his students. Our onsite maintenance facility allows us to keep our equipment in excellent shape. As a professional Flight Instructor Mitch can provide pilot training at every level, whether you are just beginning your pilot training or you are looking to advance to a higher rating he can help you reach your goals in aviation. Offering Introductory Flights, and training for the following: Private Pilot License, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot, Flight Instructor, and Multi-Engine Rating. Also, providing Tailwheel Endorsements, High Performance and Complex Aircraft endorsements, BFR’s, and Instrument Competency checks.

Training Environment

A perfect training environment at Heavens Landing Airstrip (4WV4) a smooth 2000ft grass airstrip is situated on top a 1220ft ridge next to the Patterson Creek Mountains in the Potomac Highlands providing excellent training opportunities for bush pilot flying techniques.

The local airport at Petersburg, WV (W99) is about 12 miles SW of us and has modern full service facilities with a 5000ft runway. We can make arrangements to pick you up there if you desire. In addition to our airstrip and the local airport there are several grass airstrips and lots of back country flying in this area.

Students will be exposed to another facet of aviation with additional learning and mentoring opportunities such as grass airstrip operations, mountain flying techniques which are not available at other schools.

Ground and School Facilities

We live with our Airplanes in a Hangar Home Bed & Breakfast with a large conference room over top of the airplane hangar which has a full bathroom and kitchen area that seats up to 70 people for larger group seminars.

Currently in our vacation rentals, and Bed & Breakfast we have 18 private bedrooms with queen sized beds, RV sites, and tent camping to accommodate large groups of students.
